The OCDSB School Council website has been refreshed to help council members and parents easily access up-to-date information about School Council operations. On the new site, you can learn about: Roles and Responsibilities  Elections Engaging Families Meetings and Committees Planning, Reporting, and Records Funds Management Fundraising and Grants Insurance and Risk Management These pages provide detailed information with videos, tip sheets, templates, and resources. Each page can be translated into other languages or read aloud using the built-in accessibility tools at the top of the OCDSB website. The new site replaces the School Council Resource Guide, which was previously shared with councils in a PDF format. Explore the Website Our School Council News page will continue to be a one-stop destination for the latest School Council updates. As a newsletter subscriber, you'll continue to receive regular emails with important news. Be sure to spread the word about the newsletter to fellow School Council members by encouraging them to subscribe! Save the Date: School Council Members’ Professional Development Session We will be holding a School Council Members’ Professional Development Session on Tuesday, February 8th, 6-8 p.m. More details will follow next month. Key Dates and Reminders Events, Board and Committee Meetings: Check the OCDSB Events Calendar regularly to view upcoming Board meetings, committee meetings, and events open to families and students. School Council Email Addresses: Every School Council has an OCDSB email address (sc-schoolname@ocdsb.ca). School Council chairs shall use these OCDSB accounts during their one-year term. Each year, incoming School Council chairs can access their account by speaking with their principal. As we approach the winter break, here are a few important details for families to remember: The last day of school for elementary and secondary students will be Friday, December 23, 2022.  All students will return to class on Monday, January 9, 2023.  All elementary and secondary schools (including school offices) and OCDSB administrative sites will be closed as of the end of regular hours on Friday, December 23, 2022.  Secondary school offices and OCDSB administrative sites will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.  Elementary school offices will reopen on Monday, January 9, 2023.
