RE: Reconsideration of Decision Regarding
Gifted French Immersion Program at Vincent Massey Public School
Trustee Lange has given notice that she will move to reconsider the decision of the 27 February
2006 Board meeting with respect to the gifted French Immersion Program at Vincent Massey Public
School and has provided the following rationale for reconsideration:
WHEREAS at its meeting of 27 February 2006, the Board considered the issue of Specialized
Classes /Programs for 2006 -2007, and specifically an amendment to that item with respect to the
gifted French Immersion Program at Vincent Massey Public School which provided for:
The closure of one French Immersion gifted class with the remaining class becoming a
grade 8 only French Immersion gifted class for the 2006 — 2007 school year, and
The remaining grade 8 French Immersion gifted class at Vincent Massey Public School
be closed at the end of the 2006 — 2007 school year.
WHEREAS the amendment was lost on a tie vote,
WHEREAS additional information relating to the delivery of special education programming has
since become available through the Special Education Review Report, Phase II.
WHEREAS the recent budget focus groups have highlighted the anticipated shortfall in funding
for the 2006 — 2007 school year and that staffing decisions must be made prior to March 31,
2006,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the motion of 27 February 2006 regarding Specialized
Classes /Programs for 2006 -2007 be reconsidered with respect to the specific amendment
