MINUTES
30 November 2006
A special meeting of the Ottawa - Carleton District School Board was held this evening in the
Board Room, 133 Greenbank Road, Ottawa, Ontario, commencing at 7:10 p.m. with Trustee Lynn
Graham in the Chair and the following also in attendance: Trustees Riley Brockington, Bronwyn
Funiciello, Alex Getty, Margaret Lange, Greg Laws, David Moen, David Primeau, Lynn Scott and Joan
Spice.
STAFF: Superintendent Laura McAlister, Executive Officer, Michele Giroux, Manager of Board
Services, Monica Ceschia; Communications Coordinator, Sharlene Hunter, AV Technician
Robert Giekes; and Committee Coordinator, Board Services, Kim Young.
STUDENT TRUSTEES: Steven Robins.
411. Call to Order
Chair Graham called the public session of the meeting to order at 10:56 p.m.
412. Approval of Agenda
Moved by Trustee Lange, seconded by Trustee Brockington
THAT the agenda be approved as presented.

413. Report No. 12, Education Committee (Special Meeting), 30 November 2006
Trustee Laws presented an oral report of the Education Committee at its Special Meeting on 30
November 2006: Trustee Laws presented and seconded the recommendation, viz:
Moved by Trustee Scott, seconded by Trustee Laws,
THAT a consultation process (as per Appendix A of report No. 06 -251) be
implemented from mid - December 2006 to mid - February 2007, prior to Board
decisions in February 2007 on the following proposed changes to Special
Education system classes for the 2007 -2008 school year:
a) Closure of 4 Primary Assessment Centre (PAC) classes;
b) Closure of 2 SK/Language Learning Disability (LLD) classes;
C) Closure of 2 Junior LLD classes;
d) Closure of 2 elementary Special Support Unit (SSU) classes;
e) Closure of 7.5 secondary SSU classes;
f) Closure of 1 elementary Developmental Disabilities (DD)
class;
g) Additional 0.5 teacher for secondary DD class;

h) Closure of 2 elementary General Learning Program (GLP)
classes;
i) Closure of 1 elementary Physical Support Unit (PSU) class;

j) Reduction of 2 Educational Assistants (EAs) at
Brookfield /Hillcrest Aspergers classes.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
