BACKGROUND AND STATUS: 2. Responsibility for access and privacy provisions of the MFIPPA rests with the Legal Advisor who has been assigned responsibility for responding to and coordinating the Board's information and privacy issues and requests. This responsibility includes receiving and coordinating the response to all written requests for access to information submitted under the MFIPPA and ensuring compliance with its provisions, in accordance with Procedure PR.5IO.GOV — Official Access Requests under the Municipal Freedom o f In formation and Protection o f Privacti, Act. An annual report on the status of activities in the specific area of freedom of information and privacy for the previous calendar year is normally provided to trustees in the spring. This coincides with the date the annual statistical report is prepared and submitted to the Information and Privacy Commission. 4. As of December 31, 2005, the OCDSB had received a total of five requests for access to information under the MFIPPA. In 2005, no complaints were filed to the Information and Privacy Commission with respect to privacy issues. Of the five requests received in 2005, one was requesting information on average school -wide final marks in some secondary schools, one requested information on suspensions /expulsions, one was requesting telephone record information that is not available or in the care and control of the Board, one was requesting information on a tender opening, and one was from a parent requesting personal information about her child. 5. In all but one case, the requested information was provided. In the case of the request for telephone records, the requester appealed to the Information & Privacy Commission, which confirmed the Board's decision that the records being requested do not exist. 6. To date in 2006, we have not received any formal requests for access to information under the MFIPPA. In addition to these annual reports, trustees are provided with information, as required, on specific requests for access to information or privacy complaints under the MFIPPA.
