Re: Revised 2002/03 Budget
Trustee Graham has given notice that she will move as follows at the Board
meeting on 9 September 2002:
Whereas the province has given every indication that there will be additional funds
for education following the review of the funding formula;
Whereas many school boards across Ontario have submitted "balanced" budgets which
have omitted funds for salary increases and have projected revenues not yet secured;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
A. In order to save programs and services for our students, the OCDSB balance its 2002-
2003 budget by:
1. eliminating the funding that was built in for negotiations;
2. adding the $8 million (approximately) in new special education ISA
grants;
adding $10 million (approximately) to the transportation budget to
provide equity between the OCCSB and the OCDSB;
B. The Supervisor obtain confirmation from the Minister of Education that this
revised budget is acceptable to the government under the Education Act.
