HomeMy WebLinkAbout07a2 Special Board 31 Jul 2002 Minutes PublicML OTTAWA CARLETON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD is MINUTES Special Meeting 31 July 2002 A special meeting of the Ottawa - Carleton District School Board regarding the approval of the candidate profile for the Director of Education, and issues related to the search for a new Director, was held this evening in the Board Room, 133 Greenbank Road, Ottawa, Ontario. The meeting commenced at 7:00 p.m. with Trustee Jim Libbey in the Chair, and the following in attendance: Trustees Margaret Lange (by phone), Myrna Laurenceson, Sheryl MacDonald, David Moen, Pam Morse, and Lynn Scott. Staff: Acting Director of Education and Secretary of the Board, Ronald Lynch; Superintendent Larry Archibald; Assistant Secretary of the Board, Joan Melancon; and Committee Coordinator, Kim Young. Also in attendance: John Laughlin, Consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers On a motion by Trustee Laurenceson, seconded by Trustee Sheryl MacDonald, the Board resolved into Committee of the Whole to consider the items on the in camera agenda. Trustee Moen assumed the Chair in the Committee and the Committee later rose and presented the. following report (Board minute 329 -02 refers): 329. Report No. 20, Committee of the Whole (In Camera). 31 July 2002 Trustee Moen presented Report No. 20, Committee of the Whole (in camera), and seconded the recommendations therein, viz: (a) Approval of Candidate Profile for the Position of Director (Motion by Trustee Sheryl MacDonald, substituting for Trustee Moen, seconded by Trustee Moen) THAT the candidate profile for the position of Director of Education and Secretary be approved. (b) Amendment to Terms of Engagement with Price Waterhouse Coopers (Motion by Trustee Laurenceson, seconded by Trustee Moen) THAT the Terms of Engagement with PricewaterhouseCoopers be amended by deleting the following sentence from item 6 of the Terms of Engagement, viz: The Candidate's Profile will be provided to all interested candidates as soon as it is available. 257 13 0 ML OTTAWA-CARLETON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD (c) Candidate Profile Process (Motion by Trustee Morse, seconded by Trustee Moen) MINUTES Special Meeting 31 July 2002 THAT the Board follow the consultant's recommendation to provide the education, background and experience criteria to candidates, and to permit the consultant to discuss further aspects of the profile, in general terms, with serious candidates. Recommendations a), b), and c) were adopted by the Board.
