RE: School Choice
Trustee Jackson has given notice that he will move as follows at the 24 October
Board meeting:
BE TT RESOLVED THAT the OCDSB hereby introduces a policy of school choice, which is
to be implemented by principals of the receiving schools subject to the following criteria:
i) cross- boundary transfers are to be approved on a first come, first served
basis;
ii) approval of a cross- boundary application is subject to class capacity or, in
instances where said application would impact on class organization,
school capacity;
iii) where approval would trigger an increase in teacher allocation at the
receiving school, said application must be made in accordance with then
existing staffing timelines; and
iv) for greater certainty, cross boundary transfers are not entitled to
transportation.
