As a supporting member of OCRI over the last year, you have assisted us in building
relationships and alliances among our membership for the benefit of the technology community.
Your continued support has enabled OCRI to strengthen existing programs, develop new
initiatives, and continue to promote Ottawa as a centre of excellence for technology through
events such the Technology Showcase and AGM Awards Dinner held last March at the Corel
Centre.
OCRI will continue a high level of activity throughout the summer months. We will be
revamping our website to sport a new look and usability for the benefit of all members. There
will be increased activity around SmartCapital as a result of last week's announcement naming
Ottawa as the official Smart Community Demonstration Site for Ontario by Industry Canada.
Ottawa's SmartCapital initiative will receive financial support of up to $5 million over three
years.
Another OCRI initiative that will launch on May 31 is TechRocks. Throughout May and June
local bands made up employees from local high tech companies will do musical battle to help
solve our industry's human resource challenges. Detailed information on SmartCapital and
TechRocks can be found on our website at www.ocri.ca.
I look forward to your continued support to assist OCRI in connecting people with ideas and
ideas with people. Please find enclosed your invoice for your membership renewal for the period
of June 1, 2000 to May 31, 2001. If you have any questions or comments regarding your
membership, please contact Walter Noble at 592 -8160 x248 or e-mail him at wnoble@ocri.ca.
Sincerely,
Bill Collins
