RE: Non - Profit Local Education Foundation in Ottawa- Carleton
Trustee Graham has given notice that she will move, seconded by Trustee Hill, as
follows at the 26 June 2000 Board meeting:
Whereas it is essential that the quality of public education be maintained in Ottawa -
Carleton;
Whereas it is important that the OCDSB explore all avenues of revenue generation, in
order to support our students and schools;
Whereas non -profit local education foundations exist in many communities in North
America;
Whereas a local education foundation can help a school board connect with many sectors in
a community for assistance;
Whereas a local education foundation can serve as a means for the collection and
redistribution of funds among schools;
Whereas funds generated through such a foundation could be used to support special
education programs /services and programs for children at risk, as well as other services to
benefit our students;
THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED:
THAT staff prepare for Board a report on the advisability of establishing a non - profit
local education foundation in Ottawa - Carleton.
