HomeMy WebLinkAbout02c Notice of Motion Trustee Scott re Trustee/PD Communications10 STAFF ANALYSIS OF TRUSTEE MOTION Trustee Scott: Trustee Professional Development and Communications Budgets The effect of this motion would be cost - neutral, since the total budget allocation would remain the same. .l Re: Chair and Members Committee of the Whole (Budget) It 106 OrrA-A•CAR.UTON arriucr sarooI. w.AD 20 ,Lurch 2000 debate: Trustee Scott has given notice that she will move in amendment as follows during the budget WHEREAS Policies P.003.GOV, P•004.GOV and P.005.GOV, relating to Board member honoraria, support services and professional development, are under review; WHEREAS the current policies require that the Board determine in its annual budget the amounts to be set aside for Board member professional development and the Chair's discretionary fund (P- OW -GOV. Section 2.3) and for individual trustee communications (P- 005.GOV, Section 2.2); WHEREAS the total budgeted amount for trustee professional development and communications is 593,150, and for the Chair's discretionary fund is 315 ,000, for 1999 -2000, for a total of 5108,150; WHEREAS it has been proposed that some expenses previously charged against individual trustee communications accounts should be charged centrally, and that more flexibility is needed with regard to individual trustees' allocation of spending between coaiatunrcations and professional development; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, A. TK-k i the total aalou_^ t budgeted for trustee professional development and coa+.a:unications and the Chair's discretionary fund remain at 5108,150 for the 2000 -2001 fiscal year; B. THAT the amounts allocated to individual trustees and to the Chair's discretionary fund be determined at the time of reviewing the relevant policies in April 2000; and C.
