Motion from Lamira Dow Billings school council.
Whereas the Ottawa- Carleton District School Board adopted a "quadrant approach" for
the elementary school closure review undertaken in Fall 199;

Whereas the quadrant configuration used was arbitrary and �rtlficW, and the
quadrants' size not. comparable;

Whereas no defensible reason was provided for the order in v hich the quadrants would
be reviewed:
Whereas a different set of rules might be applied to different 4uadrants under the
"quadrant approach ":
Whereas a board -wide approach would be more equitable, all6wing for a more
appropriate and rationale resolution of cross - boundary and program placement issues.
thus increasing possible cost - savings;
We urge the Ottawa - Carleton District School Board to take s�IIhool closure decisions for
all the elementary schools inside the Greenbelt in the same tihne period, after having
adopted a single and clear set of rules and criteria.
