STATUS: 2. The Board's By -laws and Standing Rules may be amended by approval of a majority of all members of the Board at a regular or special meeting of the Board, provided that at least two weeks' notice in (W writing has been given to all Board members. 3. Appropriate notice has been given of an amendment to the By -laws to include Advisory Committees under "Special Purpose Committees ". RECOMMENDATION: That the Board By -laws and Standing Rules be revised to add a new item 3.7 under the heading Special Purpose Committees as follows: "Other advisory committees as may be determined from time to time by the Board ". 3.7 "Other Advisory Committees: To provide advice, recommendations and support to the Board by: a) serving as a forum for involving significant constituencies and experts with a major interest in education, and which are not adequately represented by existing groups such as school councils; and b) promoting educational goals recognized by the Board as having a clear benefit for a significant number of its students ".
