Your paper, in an earlier issue, said it took three staff members to eject Abdirahman Abdi, who was obviously a very strong man. Also, he had mental problems. I would be careful about litigation if I were in the family's position. Don't be so one-sided the next time around, please. There is an inherent problem with the Ottawa -Carleton District School Board. Ottawa's public English-language school board defines itself by its French immersion programs. Instead of striving for excellence in English language education, the mother tongue of the majority of its students, the OCDSB has consumed its dwindling resources on its lacklustre French immersion programs, with dubious results. I wonder how many of your anglophone readers had to pay out of their own pocket to learn French? There certainly weren't any "English immersion" classes in the schools I attended. Can you imagine being unilingual francophone? It wouldn't be difficult to find work, it would be impossible! I also wonder how many of your anglophone readers have their names misspelled on their drivers' licence and their health card because the system doesn't support accented letters. This is a provincial concern, but still. I embrace the English language, knowing it has given me so many opportunities. I just wish other people saw learning how to speak French in the same vein. Then you wouldn't need legislation.
