causes inflammation because of the overproduction of immunoglobulin A, said Dr.

"It's quiet, it doesn't cause a lot of symptoms but it's on the rise. One in lo Canadians
has chronic kidney disease," Treleaven said. "We do between ioo and 14o kidney

"It was really cool but a lot different then I thought it would be. There was barely any
blood and they were so calm. On medical shows everything is hectic but it makes sense
they were calm," he said. "Everything was not as big as I thought it would be. The
incision was small. They barely cut the skin open. It was 15 centimetres, if that. is crazy
that a kidney can fit."
Some students who watched the procedure said it even solidified a career path in
medicine for them.
Nguyen, who was recently accepted into a health sciences program at McMaster, said
this livestream just ensured tats e's "more exposed tot is sort oft i " for when she
arrives at university in the fall.
For others, like Knezevic, the procedure narrowed down what aspect of medicine he
might focus on.
"It's crazy how steady your hand has to be," he said. "I'm not sure I'd be able to be a
surgeon because it has to be so accurate and steady, but I might work to assist surgeons."
