Leave
Up to 2 days per child in any one calendar year for the birth of
a child
Beginning with day of admission and surrounding the release day
from hospital or to embrace the time of birth where it does not occur in
hospital.

Up to 5 days – death of a spouse, parent, child, grandchild,
sibling, mother or father-in-law, son or daughter-in-law, or a

1 day to attend the funeral of an uncle, aunt, nephew, niece
or close personal friend, upon written request with the

Family
Up to 3 days per year of serious illness of a spouse, child or
parent to arrange for alternate care.
This leave is intended to provide up to 3 days leave per year for an
employee to arrange for alternate care for a qualifying family member
at the onset of a serious illness (including surgery, diagnosis or
treatment).

(lwop) may be granted by the Manager when compassionate
leave or special leave is exhausted.

SPJ Special
Leave
1 day shall be granted in any school year by the Supervisor
for matters of urgent or essential personal business, including
1 day for moving of personal effects. Requests shall include
the reason.
Special Leave shall include the reason and shall be submitted at the
time the employee is aware of the need for the leave. Urgent or
Essential personal business includes leaves for medical, personal, or
legal reasons. Annual medical/dental appts. or routine appts. related
to pregnancy can be drawn from special leave.

Employees may substitute time off in lieu of overtime worked
when mutually agreed
Must be pre-authorized by Supervisor; not provided for overtime less
than 1/2 hour per day.

10 & 11 month employees must reserve vacation days to be
taken at Christmas/March break and those with insufficient
days will be deducted lwop. Any vacation balances paid out in
June.
Vacation days must be approved in advance. 12 month employees
must request permission to carry over vacation to following year.

Only with the approval of the Principal and written notification
to respective Superintendent.
The responsibility for determining reasonable efforts rests with
Supervisor. Reference PR.563.HR.
