What sort of message does this send to children about kindness and thoughtfulness, about concern and caring, about love? I will certainly never do business with this bank because of the message conveyed by this ad. Marilyn J. Wagg, Ottawa A shout -out to our teachers, please This week was Teacher Appreciation Week and I am writing to thank the teachers across the city, province and country. I may be somewhat biased as my daughter is a French Immersion teacher at Manor Park Public school. I recently attended its school play, Lion King Junior, directed by one of her colleagues and ably assisted by a host of teachers, including my daughter, and volunteer parents who put in countless hours for the production. The children were amazing, they put their heart and soul into the play and so did the teachers. Sometimes we do not say "thank you" enough — to the teachers who have devoted their career to educating our children in so many ways and to our provinces and country, which value a strong public education system. It isn't perfect, and yes, more can be done — but I think it deserves an "A." Melanie Gluss, Ottawa Train young children in both languages Re: Bilingualism, blessings and curses.
