School in Petawawa has meant indoor recess for
cubs of the human variety.
The Renfrew County District School Board took to social media Tuesday to
warn about the bear in the tree on the school property and the precaution of

putting a "shelter in place. That means that staff and students can move
around the school but stay inside because of an external threat.
Police and the Ministry of Natural Resources had been notified but the
school was told to monitor the situation.
The bear was still hanging around Wednesday with Valour School warning
parents to use the building's front door and declaring that recess would be
an indoor affair.
But everyone seems to be bearing the situation with good cheer.
"Heck of a mascot you've got there," the board tweeted.
According to the latest local reports, officials have decided to trap and
remove the cub.
