Ottawa -Carleton District School Board trustees are
encouraging people to participate in provincial
consultations on educational reform, which include

a 90 -minute telephone town hall for Ottawa
residents Tuesday.
The province is seeking opinions on the sex -ed curriculum as well as several
other educational issues:
Improving student performance in science, technology, engineering and
math;
Preparing students with job skills such as skilled trades and coding;
Improving province -wide standardized testing;
Ensuring students graduate with "important life skills" such as financial
literacy;
ADVERTISEMENT
Building an "age-appropriate" Health and Physical Education curriculum

subjects like mental health, sexual health education and the legalization of
cannabis;
Developing a Parents' Bill of Rights

Online submissions are also being accepted and there is an on-line survey.
Consultations close Dec. 15.
"This consultation is very important to the future of public education
policy;" the board said in a newsletter. "Both the Board of Trustees and the
Parent Involvement Committee encourage you to participate — either in the
Town Hall, completing the survey, or making a submission."

Telephone town hall: The town hall is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Register by 4 p.m. Monday at https://www.ontario.ca/form/register-
