Dear Nancy,
Thank you for your letter of 16 April 2019 outlining the concerns of OSSTF District 25
regarding recent announcements by the provincial government proposing changes to
education policies, programs and funding.
Like you, trustees of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board are concerned about the
potential impacts of proposed changes on our ability to provide OCDSB students with the high
quality public education they need and deserve.
On Tuesday evening, the Board reconstituted our former ad hoc committee on advocacy
strategy as a special purpose committee tasked with developing an annual advocacy strategy,
with developing board advocacy positions, and with providing timely advice to the chair of the
board on specific issues as they arise.
It is my hope that, by focusing our advocacy efforts and targeting them with care, the OCDSB
will be able to have its voice heard clearly on the most important issues at the most crucial
times and in the most impactful ways.
Sincerely,
Ly9n Scott
