HomeMy WebLinkAboutSchool Council Update 2019/4/20 - # 31School Council Update #31 - April 26th, 2019
The City of Ottawa has declared a state of emergency due to severe rainfall and rising water
levels across the region. The OCDSB will be continuing to monitor this over the weekend. In our
schools and buildings, our Facilities staff is working to keep catch basins and drains cleared
and keeping close watch on sites that may experience flooding. In the event of flooding, there
may be road closures or other access issues which could affect getting to school on
Monday. OSTA is in regular contact with the City of Ottawa and has asked all parents to
monitor the OSTA website Sunday evening for information about any changes to stops or
routes. In the event that any school closures or cancellations are necessary, we will share that
information as quickly as possible.
The City of Ottawa is looking for volunteers to assist with flood preparation efforts. Volunteers
must be at least 12 years of age. Volunteers under 18 years must be supervised by an adult or
legal guardian. More information can be found here.

School Climate Survey 2019 for Students - April 23rd to May 10th, 2019
The OCDSB is committed to creating inclusive, safe and caring environments. As part of this
commitment, along with direction from the Ministry, our schools administer school climate
surveys to students at least once every two years. The purpose of a school climate survey is
to better understand students’ perceptions about bullying, safety at school, and student
engagement.
Students who are in grades four to twelve will complete the OurSCHOOL Survey online at
school between April 23rd and May 10th, 2019. Parents can advise the school if they prefer
their child not to participate.
Please visit our School Climate Survey webpage for more information and frequently asked
questions.
