HomeMy WebLinkAbout14 Student Trustee Report Student Trustee Report May 10, 2011 We, the student trustees, would like to report on the current undertakings of the Ontario Student -AECO). OSTA-AECO has been actively involved in the ent trustees, were given the opportunity to join students from Lady Evelyn Alternative School and several other schools for a special presentation and a march to Parliament Hill. We hope that this event has managed to raise awareness on the lack of aboriginal education rights. As a follow-up to the first ever Ontario Student Survey, OSTA-AECO is preparing the launch of another similar survey in order to reinforce the results of the first one as well as to explore issues in more depth and breadth. This survey will be accessible through Facebook and its own website. We greatly encourage high school students from across the city to participate in this great opportunity to express their voices,. OSTA-AECO is also releasing the Student Council Handbook. This guide on how to form and run student councils was written by students for students. It takes the best practices from across the province and compiles them into a handy tool for middle schools and high schools. This book will be available online and in hard copy, which may be purchased by school boards or individual schools. Finally, it is our great honour to announce the election of the two student trustees for the 2011- 2012 school year: Bill Lin from A. Y. Jackson Secondary School and Kareem Ibrahim from Earl of March Secondary School. We would like to wish them luck in their roles next year representing the student voice at this very important table.
